Description

1910 Notebook Covers Ty Cobb PSA Fair 1.5. While trading cards will always be the driving force behind card collecting, one largely overlooked are of collectible are the school notebook covers that feature baseball's finest talents. One major reason why they are so over looked is the fact they are so few of them available to modern hobbyists. By the end of the school year, page after page of lessons and notes were soon discarded with the treasured cover, now looking used and abused, put on display until a new series of covers came out. These covers are very nicely designed and are often printed in just one color. This very rare notebook cover of baseball all-time great Ty Cobb is a stunning exception. The full figure portrait as Cobb gazes to the left bares a surprising similarity to his D304 General Baking cards which are considered one of his finest card portraits. The hand cut cover measures approx. 5 x 7-1/2" and has the creases, staining and spots of surface loss to confirm its official use protecting the homework of some lucky baseball fan. Graded PSA Fair 1.5. This is the only example of this cover to be graded by PSA. Certainly an item almost all Cobb collections are lacking.
