Best in Class

1953 Bowman Mickey Mantle #59 PSA Mint 9.

Best-In-Class Expert Analysis/Summary:

Due to its uncomplicated design, the 1953 Bowman issue invites the viewer to become laser-focused on both the white borders and the photographic image contained within. The borders, which can be a problem for Bowmans as a result of toning, are bright and clean. In addition, the centering is well within the standard for the assigned grade, offering a balanced frame for the classic image of Mantle. Furthermore, the sky-blue background is not impacted by the typical degree of print defects present on the issue. For those not familiar, the small print dot on Mantle's chin was, unfortunately, a consistent part of the Bowman production process and, therefore, unavoidable. The clarity and pack-fresh look exhibited here add to the eye appeal and give this example an ability to stand out amongst similarly-graded peers.
