The Estate of Charles Martignette

The single greatest Illustration Art collection ever offered --- 4300 pieces valued at $20 million --- to be included in a series of Heritage auctions starting in summer 2009.

When maverick collector and historian Charles Martignette passed away in February 2008, his collection was already the stuff of legend, containing multiple canvasses by every major name in American illustration art from the last century.

Heritage will be offering major highlights from this collection in each of our quarterly Illustration Art auctions as well as in other Fine Art venues.

This artwork represent the absolute best of the best by the greatest names in Illustration history-masters from the Golden Age of magazine and book illustration, paperback and pulp covers, and pin-up, such as Alberto Vargas, Gil Elvgren, George Petty, J.C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell, Harvey Dunn, Norman Rockwell, Howard Pyle, Jessie Willcox Smith, Haddon Sundblom, James Montgomery Flagg, Mead Schaeffer, Saul Tepper, Tom Lovell, Coles Phillips, Amos Sewell, W.H.D. Koerner, Rolf Armstrong, Earl Moran, Enoch Bolles, Norman Saunders, H.J. Ward, George Rozen, Walter Baumhofer, Earle Bergey, Rudolph Belarski, and James Avati, among many others.

These auctions mark an incredible opportunity to acquire the greatest illustration artworks known to exist!
