1936 Babe Ruth Double Signed Check.
The fabulous allure that comes with a Babe Ruth check is at least doubly intensified when one stumbles across an example that has been twice signed. On the offered specimen the Babe has applied his "GH Ruth" in the lower right corner of this 1936 check written out for fifty dollars cash. The verso has been penned with the same signature, which has met with an unfortunate stripe of residual adhesive, presumably from a previous display life of the check. The removal has also led to some paper loss on the check's verso. The example remains fully legible and has faded very little after over seven decades.
LOA from James Spence.

1956 World Series Multi-Signed Program with Robinson, Campy, Mantle.
From a Series best remembered for Don Larsen's Game Five perfecto comes this official program that saw action at Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. Though the program features just ten autographs from those gentlemen participating in the Fall Classic, the fan was marvelously discerning when choosing his targets. In fact, half of them are now enshrined in Cooperstown: Mantle, Snider, Reese, Campanella and Jackie Robinson. Among the remainder are the always welcome Gil Hodges, and the very rare Charlie "The Brow" DiGiovanna, the famous adult "bat boy" for the Bums whose knack for forgery resulted in his creating hundreds upon hundreds of "team signed" Dodgers baseballs to fulfill autograph requests. For the hundreds of autographs we've seen signed by DiGiovanna, this is one of the first times we've seen Charlie sign his own name! The program itself shows typical wear for its age, but the pencil autographs inside remain identical in strength to the day they were placed on the pages by these Big Apple baseball heroes.

Completely Signed 1951 World Series of Basketball Program from the Marques Haynes Collection.
Here is Marques Haynes' personal copy of the program from the second year of the World Series of Basketball. This touring event pitted the Harlem Globetrotters against the "College All-Americans" in a series of eighteen games from coast to coast. Fans in most of the major cities had the chance to see the legendary Globetrotters play a talented group of collegians. The cover of the program bears the signatures of every player listed on the Globetrotters roster - except Marques Haynes (remember, this is his own copy...and it can be signed by Marques if the winning bidder wants to complete the roster). The incredible Reece "Goose" Tatum, along with HOFer William "Pop" Gates and the image of the Globetrotters in their early years, Babe Pressley are joined by ten others; they represent virtually the lineup that beat the World Champion Minneapolis Lakers twice, in 1948 and 1949. Inside the program, virtually the entire college roster, lead by the likes of Gene Melchiorre, Mel Hutchins and Zeke Sinicola, has signed the page near their images. Also of great interest are the "10" signatures of HOF coaches Clair Bee and Ray Meyer. This is a great piece of early basketball history and a unique assemblage of important autographs. While there is some staining to the back cover, the program is in overall very good condition and the signatures average "8" or better. BR Included within this desirable group of autographs is the extraordinarily rare signature of Negro League baseball player Ted Strong. A star with the Pittsburgh Crawfords for over ten years, Keating and Kolleth's authoritative summary of Negro League autographs mentions that only one example of Ted Strong's signature was known at the time of publication. After retiring from baseball, Strong played for several years with one of the Globetrotters' touring teams, making his signature possible on this program.

1946 Ty Cobb Signed Check.
The Peach's blue ink signature at lower right of this personal check rates a marvelous 9+/10, and remains clear of all bank stamping and punch coding. Cobb pays $1.75 to "WC Olson" of the San Francisco Examiner. A single vertical center fold is barely visible to the eye, and otherwise the check shows no notable flaws.

Due to the extremely sensitive nature of these cards with perforations allowing the player to "stand," along with the colored borders, the 1964 Topps Stand-Up cards are pretty tough in high grade. There has yet to be another Brooks Robinson to grade higher, with only four others reaching the PSA Mint benchmark.
