The exaggerated dimensions of the issue only serves to further discourage time to be gentle, but the condition of this rookie from Hollywood Joe has somehow managed to survive the decades unscathed. 1949 Notre Dame Team Signed Football.
Saving the best for last, the great Leon Hart, who earned a Heisman Trophy for his actions during the '49 season, finishes the list of twenty-five black ink signatures that fill a single panel of this "M-60" football. A College Football Hall of Famer, Hart beat out Charlie Justice and Doak Walker for the Heisman this season. Though Coach Frank Leahy is sadly absent, the mere existence of a ball from a National Championship team dating from over half a century ago is a miracle in itself. Their ten and zero record this season stretched to thirty-eight games the squad's unbeaten streak. All signatures are in dark, easily legible black ink, and while the first two signatures have a slight bit of wear to them, the remainder are just as strong as they were in '49. A rare and desirable piece for the Fightin' Irish in all of us. LOA from James Spence & Steve Grad/PSA DNA.

1901 P & W Railway Pittsburgh Baseball Club Menu NM/MT.
The offered item is an interesting and rare piece of Pittsburgh Pirates memorabilia. The menu dates to the Spring of 1901 and was given to the Pirates players on the train from Pittsburgh to Hot Springs, Arkansas (where many Major League clubs held Spring Training) at the beginning of the 1901 season. The back of the menu features a complete player roster including Hall of Famers Rube Waddell, Honus Wagner, and Fred Clarke among others. The Pirates did go on to win the NL pennant that season and 1901 was a historic year in baseball as it saw the birth of the American League. Included inside is the following dandy poem:
"Ye baseball men that go abroad, acknowledge, if you please,
That traveling is a picnic when you go on lines like these:
The trusty P.& W., --the Wabash superfine, --
The good old Iron Mountain and the Hot Springs line."
