The two greatest powers of the Dead Ball Era send their aces to the mound in a contest high on our list of time machine destinations. The result of the Polo Grounds opener was a predictably low-scoring two runs to one, with Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants taking the victory over Chief Bender of the Philadelphia Athletics. Presented for bidder consideration is a ticket stub from the opening contest. Moderate creasing is visible throughout and there is a punch hole present. The reverse has two spots of paper loss.
