Description

Circa 1924 "The Four Horsemen of Notre Dame" Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 3. It's probably the most famous pre-war football photo that exists, picturing the iconic South Bend quartet leaning into the nickname assigned to them by Hall of Fame sportswriter Grantland Rice. For those who aren't familiar with the PSA/DNA photo numerology, Type 3 indicates a period print from a duplicate negative, so the image dates to this golden age of collegiate football. Dimensions are 6.5x8.5". A few scattered wrinkles are only apparent at sharp angles to the light, but this photo could be matted and framed to a NRMT appearance. Original paper caption is present but detached. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 3.
