Description

Signed 1972 Topps Julius Erving Rookie #195 PSA NM-MT 8, PSA/DNA Auto 10. Hoops Hall of Famer Julius "Dr. J" Erving was a three-time league MVP in the ABA who was instrumental when the ABA and NBA merged together in 1976 as he was joining the Philadelphia 76ers. He played a total of 11 NBA seasons in the City of Brotherly Love and led the Sixers to the 1983 league title. A consummate showman, Erving can be credited with revolutionizing the game of basketball as his high-flying acrobatics above the rim and his jaw-dropping slam dunks became nightly highlight reels throughout the late '70s and '80s.

Offered is Erving's 1972 Topps rookie card, which shows him playing for his very first professional team, the Virginia Squires of the ABA. Card #195 from the '72 Topps set captures the small forward putting up a set shot. This particular example includes Erving's coveted signature across the front. He signed the card in fine-point blue marker and added "HOF 1993" to indicate his induction year into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Graded PSA NM-MT 8 with a certified PSA/DNA Auto 10.
