Description

1936 Goudey Premiums (Type 4 - Portrait) Joe DiMaggio PSA Good 2. During the mid-1930s, smaller, almost square cards made up the majority of the cutthroat candy and gum market promotions. But Goudey also produced larger formats, including their 3-1/4" x 5-1/2" paper "Wide Pen" premiums for both the U.S. and Canadian markets. The timing of these larger premiums was perfect as they coincided with the earliest appearances on cards by several baseball legends, including New York Yankees upstart Joe DiMaggio. Offered is a scarce 1936 Premiums - Type 4 example showcasing the "Yankee Clipper" in the early going. These cards are best identified by the cream color stock, the use of borders, and the fact that there's no "LITHO in U.S.A." caption on the bottom right. Graded PSA Good 2.
