1989 Upper Deck Ken Griffey Jr. #1 SGC 98 Gem 10. There were two historic baseball related debuts in 1989. It was the year 19-year old Ken Griffey Jr. would make his MLB debut and Upper Deck introduced their first cards onto the market with just as much hobby fanfare. Choosing the young future HoFer as the #1 card of their inaugural edition was pure genius or pure luck. Regardless, this card has come to represent an entire era of the hobby.
