Description

1979 Topps Ozzie Smith Rookie #116 PSA Mint 9. He was nicknamed "The Wizard of Oz" because his fielding wizardry at shortstop was nothing short of magical. An incredible fielder, Ozzie Smith collected 13 Gold Gloves during his Hall of Fame career and helped the St. Louis Cardinals win the World Series in 1982. Though most of his accolades were won during his years with the Redbirds, Smith started out his MLB career with the San Diego Padres. Offered is Smith's prized 1979 Topps rookie card which shows sporting some serious sideburns while donning his Padres uniform. Card #116 from the '79 Topps set is found in tip-top condition with great color, good centering, bright white borders and four sharp corners. Graded PSA Mint 9. Of the nearly 15,000 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of 412 cards graded MINT with just five rated higher.
