1934 Michigan State Spartans Football Most Valuable Player Pocket Watch Presented to Edward Klewicki. According to his college coach Charles Bachman, Edward Klewicki was the best defensive end he had ever coached. One of the most prolific defenders ever to suit up for the Spartans, Klewicki went on to star for the Detroit Lions, and helped lead his team to a league championship in 1935. Presented here is a 14 karat gold filled Wadsworth pocket watch that was given to Klewicki in 1934 after being named the Spartans' most valuable player. Exhibiting moderate wear throughout, the engraved interior back reads: "To Edward Klewicki Most Valuable Player by Daniels Jewelry Co. Lansing".
