Description
1882 Arthur Soden Signed Boston Base Ball Association Stock Certificate. Fully executed stock certificate for the Boston Red Caps was issued to Georgiana S. Slade, apparently as a Christmas gift for a young girl considering the December 27th date and the word "Guardian" just after her name. The entire document measures 5.5x12", and exposes some mild water staining at right side, which causes little problem and does not affect legibility in any way. A center horizontal fold line is apparent, and the receipt (which is included in the measurement) is affixed with an ancient straight pin, resulting in a minor, insignificant tear. A very interesting and very early artifact from the infancy of professional ball. It is signed by Arthur Soden, who president of the ball club and the National League that year.
