Description

1950's African-American Football Stars Coca-Cola Advertising Sign. Historic piece is likely to start a fierce bidding war between all factions of collectors, from sports advertising aficionados to Coca-Cola buffs to those focusing on Black Americana. Upon one point all would agree--this is a tremendously rare and desirable artifact. Only a small supply of these signs would have been produced in the Fifties, made for display in predominantly black neighborhoods. Surely almost no others still exist today. Pictured holding frosty bottles of Coke are Hall of Famers Marion Motley, Bill Willis, Emlen Tunnell and Leonard Ford, each in uniform. The cardboard stock sign measures 20x36" and shows definite evidence of age, most notably in chipping and staining along left edge, but we've certainly seen much worse on pieces of this vintage, and the visual power is hardly affected. Some evidence of restoration on this left side is only visible upon closer inspection. A tremendously impressive piece that will take your collection to a place where few could follow. Nicely housed in a simple thin red frame.
