Description

1907-09 PC765-1 Dietsche Detroit Tigers Postcards Ty Cobb (Batting, 1907) PSA VG 3 - MBA gold label. The Detroit Tigers became the toast of the town in 1907 by winning their first American League pennant in the team's history. As part of the celebration, there were numerous promotions, giveaways, souvenirs, etc. showcasing the team and individual players. Issued for the '07 World Series was a set of 16 postcards produced by the Dietsche Postcard Company of Detroit. Today they are not the easiest collectibles to encounter with their limited theme and circulation. The top name was the young hitter from Georgia named Ty Cobb. In fact, Cobb had two cards in this set, one of him fielding and this one, a batting version of Cobb, which seems so much more natural. In any condition, both variations are exceedingly popular. Issued over three seasons, this card has a 1907 copyright date. Fantastic example with a curving line corner mount impression in the upper left. Graded PSA VG 3. One of only eight total graded by PSA. MBA gold label

Guide Value or Estimate: $15,000 - up.
