Description

1934 Lou Gehrig & Others Signed Official Rules Book - Signed During Tour of Japan. The 1934 Tour of Japan showcased Lou Gehrig as a global ambassador for baseball. Alongside American stars, Gehrig's professionalism, power, and sportsmanship captivated Japanese fans and players. Stadiums overflowed as the team played exhibition games, inspiring young athletes and validating baseball as an international game. Gehrig's presence lent credibility and prestige, helping cement baseball's popularity in Japan and accelerating its growth across the Far East as a shared cultural passion that endured for generations thereafter worldwide.

The pairing of Gehrig and Eric McNair links this 1934 Official Base ball Rules booklet (5x6.5"/18.5x14.5" total frame) to the Tour of Japan. Whoever got Gehrig's autograph wrote ("In China Dec. 5 1934") in fountain pen to document the encounter. The autograph survives at 7/10 in strength. American League umpire John Quinn also signed on as did Rabbit Warstler, Joe Cascarella and Frank Hayes. A central fold does not touch Gehrig's autograph. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
