Description

Circa 1982 Eric Dickerson Game Worn SMU Jersey. Eric Dickerson's great career achievements should have included a Heisman Trophy for the prolific running back, but because he played for SMU and not a more prestigious program like Texas or Oklahoma, and simultaneously played in the "Pony Express" two-back system with the likes of Craig James, he was unable to achieve college football's most coveted honor. He did gain 4,450 yards, breaking Earl Campbell's Southwest Conference's career rushing record, and his forty-eight career touchdowns for the Dallas institution of higher learning tied the famous Doak Walker's mark.

This road jersey features portal fishnet mesh throughout with an '80's style "high stomach cut." Made by "Fab Knit" (Waco, Texas), the jersey features a tail edge label and a collar "size XL/washing instructions" flap tag. The "19" numerals are screened on in proper font, and the nameplate lettering, sewn on in red tackle twill, has been replaced. The overall wear is light, but few defenders got a clean hit on Dickerson, and when they did, the jersey was always flowing from the open stomach cut to the floppy sleeves. Still a solid and tremendously rare collegiate representation from one of the most exciting backs in football history, sure to be a focal point of even the finest of private collections. LOA from Lou Lampson.
