Description

1969 Steve Wooster Game Worn University of Texas Jersey. Battle-scarred veteran of the famous Red River Showdown between the University of Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners was sported by the star running back of the former, a player instrumental in claiming an NCAA Football Championship for the Lone Star State later that season. The "tear away" style lives up to its name in a big way here, with considerable rips in the rear and right sleeve of the jersey which ended its service clearly in evidence. Often Longhorns would go through several jerseys within the course of a game, with the vast majority being destroyed afterwards, but our consignor snuck out and snagged this rarity for the enjoyment of future generations of Longhorns fans. The gamer is constructed of orange cotton t-shirt material, with number "30" screened on front and verso and dual white striping at each sleeve. Local Austin manufacturer "Texas Sporting Goods" label appears at interior collar, with size flap tag below too frayed to discern. One of a very few game used artifacts to survive from that glorious National Championship season, sure to enjoy a place of honor in one alumnus' trophy room. LOA from Lou Lampson.
