Description

1930's-40's Roderick "Bobby" Wallace Baseball Passes Lot of 2. A rookie with the 1894 Cleveland Spiders, the twenty-year old Wallace couldn't have dreamed that he would one day rejoin his teammates Cy Young, Jesse Burkett and Buck Ewing in a place called the Baseball Hall of Fame. Inducted at age eighty, just seven years before his passing in 1960, Wallace is one of the toughest finds for collectors with a Cooperstown concentration, so we're pleased to present a pair of passes issued to him for his esteemed service as a young man. Best is the ten-karat gold Major League Lifetime Pass, the first we've encountered since fellow Hall of Famer Gabby Hartnett's pass realized $3,884 in our October 2007 Signature Auction. Some residue on verso appears to be the result of adhesion within a scrapbook or other display, but the front of the 2.75x4.25" pass presents perfectly. Joining this special relic is a smaller (2x3.5") brass pass extending the courtesy of all National Association parks to Wallace for the 1935 season. Scattered surface wear creates a VG-EX standard.
