Description

Circa 1950 Dick Irvin Signed Cut Signature Card. James Dick Irvin, Sr. (July 19, 1892 - May 15, 1957) was a giant in his day noted for his aggressive style of play and blistering slap shot. His professional career began in 1921 and in 1926 became a charter member of the newly formed Chicago Black Hawks but saw his playing career end in 1928 after suffering a fractured skull. Undaunted, Irvin went on to coach the Black Hawks in 1930. Heeding a call from the Toronto Maple Leafs, Irvin would coach the Leafs, Canadiens and signed with the Black Hawks one last time in 1956-57. Overcome with bone cancer he retired before the season started. Offered here is a scarcely seen signature from the hockey HoFer who passed away in 1957. Signed in black ink, this cut signature was made into an attractive "1 of 1" 2.5x3.5" trading card by a passionate hobbyist. A great chance to obtain a vintage signature. Pre-certified by PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from James Spence Authentication.
