Description

C. 1908 Millar & Lang "National Series" Old Tom Morris SGC VG-EX 4 - Pop One, None Higher! If you are a fan of the fairway, you know the first shot taken in the inaugural British Open (then called The Open Championship), was "Old" Tom Morris. The golf pioneer would win four of the next seven to follow in 1861, 1862, 1864 and 1867. Remembered as the foremost pioneer of the early game, Old Tom was likewise one of its most diverse practitioners, serving as greenskeeper, clubmaker, ballmaker, instructor and course designer during his decades of service to the sport. Offered is a rare Millar & Lang post card circulated around 1908 as part of their "National Series." Graded SGC VG-EX 4. Our offered card is the highest graded example for just four total rated by SGC.
