1949 Rocky Marciano Match Worn Boxing Gloves Used vs. Johnny Pretzie with Family Provenance. On March 21, 1949, Rocky Marciano faced Johnny Pretzie in a gritty and memorable bout. Though Marciano didn't have his sharpest form that night, his determination and heart carried him through. Pretzie showed resilience, absorbing punishment and firing back, but Marciano refused to be discouraged. He pressed forward relentlessly, showcasing the tenacity that would later define his legendary career. Marciano's stamina and willpower ultimately broke through Pretzie's defenses, proving that even on an off night, Rocky was a force to be reckoned with. The fight demonstrated Marciano's rare ability to grind out a win under adversity-a quality of champions. It was another stepping stone on his path to greatness, underlining why Marciano would go on to become one of boxing's all-time icons.These Everlast 6 ounce gloves were used by Marciano the night planted Pretzie to the canvas four times. Everlast manufacturer's logos are sewn near the wrist on both gloves. Authentication is secured with a letter from JO Sports Inc. and notarized letter from Rocky's brother Peter Marciano. Peter Marciano mentions in the letter that it was the first time he witnessed one of Rocky's fights. He also stated: "After the fight my dad brought me to the locker room to see Rocky and he gave me the gloves and told me to use them to hit the heavy bag in the back yard. I was nine years old at the time."
