Description

1982-84 David Thompson Game Worn Seattle Supersonics Jersey. The whole obsession with the vertical jump began with David Thompson and his famed "44-inch vert." But how great a player was he? Well, he was Michael Jordan's boyhood idol. How respected was he? It was Thompson who introduced Jordan for his 2009 Hall of Fame induction.

After starring for four seasons in Raleigh and seven seasons in The Mile High City, the Skywalker closed out his basketball career in the Emerald City where he donned the game worn exemplar on offer here.

White mesh homester sports "Sonics 44" on the front and "Thompson 44" on the verso in green/yellow/white heat transfers. Yellow/green trim adorns the ribbed collar and arm openings with yellow piping traversing the jersey signifying the Seattle Space Needle. Tags include "Rawlings 44" and "4" Extra Length" tags in the collar with a "Rawlings" label in the tail.

While the tags and their placement may not be the norm for the majority of gamers of the period, it was used for certain sets and there is precedent for this format. See the "retail style" Rawlings tag clearly visible at the back collar of Danny Vranes' jersey in Getty Images 1002655564. Also, for the style match, see Getty Images 141822859. Solid wear exhibited. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
