Description

C. 1890's Bob Fitzsimmons Imperial Cabinet Photograph. "Ruby Robert," the New Zealand blacksmith, was one of the most talented fighters that ever laced a pair of gloves. A terrific puncher with either hand, Fitzsimmons was also agile and could strike suddenly from different angles. Although a natural middleweight, Fitzsimmons often fought much larger men. The presented unidentified (thus the SGC Authentic assessment) imperial cabinet pictures the talented pugilist in a finely detailed, fighting pose. Card mount is 5-1/4" x 8-3/16" with rounded corners and is the companion to the Maher Imperial cabinet being offered elsewhere in this auction. The Fitzsimmons/Maher connection is the 1896 world heavyweight title & National Police Gazette Championship Belt. The photo reads Copyright by J.J. O'Brien N.Y. 1891. Previous mounting removal account for the entirety of notable condition concerns.
