1895 N300 Mayo Cut Plug John Clarkson SGC 84 NM 7 - Pop One, None Higher! This amazing card shows a mere hint of handling. It also features HoF hurler John Clarkson who was retired by 1895. The image is 100% Clarkson but the tie and "St. Louis" are artistic additions and is it possible the card was intended to be his brother - Dad Clarkson who was a pitcher for the 1895 St. Louis squad. The portrait is a magnificent complement to the deep black surrounding. Graded SGC 84 NM 7. From a total pop of just thirty-four examples. This is one of seven cards graded NM. There are none rated higher! A certified condition rarity by any standard, this N300 Mayo Cut Plug card is one of only eleven cards on the SGC census graded NM or higher from a total submissions approaching 1,400 cards.Auction Info
