Description

1962 Wilt Chamberlain 100-Point Game Ticket Stub. Every basketball collector wants one, and nobody has one--it's the most sought after ticket in the basketball collecting hobby. Despite the enormous scarcity of relics from this Hershey, Pennsylvania contest, every fan on earth knows the event. On March 2, 1962, the seven-foot one inch superstar center for the Philadelphia Warriors became the first (and, to this date, only) man in NBA history to require a third digit on his personal scoring sheet, dropping an even one hundred in a 169-147 victory over the visiting New York Knicks.

Just over four thousand fans were on hand to witness this stunning display of offensive production, so the scarcity of surviving stubs is little surprise. This example is heavily creased, and was later laminated, but it was still there, a genuine witness to an unequivocal event in NBA history. Vintage handwriting on reverse notes, "Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points."

It is also interesting to note that the 100-point game never officially ended. Right after Dippy hit the century mark, fans rushed the floor and referees Pete D'Ambrosio and Willie Smith decided there was no point in continuing despite the fact that there were still forty-six seconds remaining on the clock. Also, more remarkable in many ways than the 100 points were Wilt's season averages of 50.4 points, 25.7 rebounds, and 48.4 minutes per game. Encapsulated by PSA, Authentic.
