Description

1948 Leaf Babe Ruth #3 PSA VG-EX+ 4.5. The great Babe Ruth, beyond his athletic feats on the baseball diamond, was also a global ambassador for the game as he orchestrated memorable baseball barnstorming tours overseas. A career .342 batter, Ruth was best known for delivering home runs (714 round-trippers in all) and for his playful gamesmanship out on the field. Once he hung up his cleats following the '35 season, he was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame as part of its inaugural class in 1936.

Offered is a 1948 Leaf card that salutes the "Sultan of Swat" years after he retired and just months before his passing on August 16, 1948. Card #3 from the '48 Leaf series shares a portrait pic of Ruth looking quite somber. This mid-grade example shows good color and a clean reverse. Graded PSA VG-EX+ 4.5.
