Description

1933 Goudey Lou Gehrig #92 PSA VG-EX 4. As the starting first baseman for the New York Yankees from 1925 until 1939, Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig was the team's anchor. He led by example every day and always played to win. In fact, he put together an incredible streak of playing in 2,130 consecutive games, which stood as a MLB record for 56 years until Baltimore Orioles shortstop Cal Ripken Jr. came along and broke it on Sept. 6, 1995. It was discovered in 1939 that Gehrig was suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a disease that would end his career and end his life two years later.

Presented is a 1933 Goudey card that shows Gehrig doing what he did best. Card #92 from the '33 Goudey set delivers "The Iron Horse" stepping into a pitch, ready to launch it far and high. It was something he did 493 times during his Hall of Fame career in pinstripes. This mid-grade example is found exhibiting good color and good centering with snow white borders and a clean reverse. Graded PSA VG-EX 4.
