Description

1914 Cracker Jack Tris Speaker #65 PSA NM-MT 8 - None Higher. Among the great hitters of the early 20th century, Tris Speaker must be mentioned in the same conversation alongside Cobb, Jackson, Wagner and Lajoie. During a remarkable 22-year career, Speaker finished with over 3,500 hits and a lifetime batting average of .345. And he was a pretty spectacular outfielder as well. Baseball and Cracker Jacks are forever linked by the famous lyrics of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame," and by the tremendously desirable trading card issue contained within Cracker Jack packaging during the closing days of the Dead Ball Era. Here we find an astonishingly high-grade example from one of the age's dominant figures from a series circulated in a manner that all but guaranteed high-grade examples wouldn't exist. PSA census numbers show just eighty-three cards have received unqualified NM-MT grades from a total pop of 5,877 total cards for the 1914 series. Just for comparison, the 1915 series is represented by over 18,000 submissions with more than 2,700 earning the unqualified NM-MT level.

Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of six cards (do we smell a re-submission or two) to earn a NM-MT grade from PSA with none higher! An astounding card that has four uniform corners, near perfect centering with really rich, saturated colors.
