One of the largest signed Ruth photos we've ever seen!
1934 Babe Ruth Signed Oversized Tour of Japan Photograph.
It's the most famous photographic image from the sport's most
famous foreign excursion, but we've never seen it at such a
commanding size. This 17x21" (visible area) photograph would have
cost an absolute fortune to create back in the Depression days, and
it was surely once the personal possession of a VIP whose name has
unfortunately been lost to history. Ruth himself offers no
assistance, as his black fountain pen signature, applied with 7/10
boldness just to the left of his back foot, is free of any
personalization.We're pleased to report the autograph is free from the water damage that lurks nearby, which only affects a small portion of Ruth's legs and is otherwise confined to the background area. A hole goes through the photo in the upper left quadrant, but this again is clear of the central focus. Museum-quality matting and framing provides the kind of respect this ultra-rare photo deserves, a piece which would surely flirt with the six-figure mark without the condition faults that now widen the potential bidder pool.
