Description

The future Hall of Famer earns American League pennant and MVP Award!

1959 Chicago White Sox American League Championship Ring Presented to Nellie Fox. "This 1959 White Sox ring was awarded to my late husband Nelson Fox. It is the one and only original," reads the included letter of provenance supplied by Nellie's widow. As any baseball fan from the South Side will tell you, this is as good as it got for the ChiSox between 1917 and 2005, one of the longest World Championship droughts in Major League history.

Certainly any bidder interested in this lot is likewise aware that Fox was the biggest star of this American League Championship squad, leading all batters with 191 hits in 1959 while playing Gold Glove defense at second base. He'd earn his one and only American League MVP Award this year, as teammates and fellow future Hall of Famers Luis Aparicio and Early Wynn rounded out the top three.

The ring is a rather simple design, with a genuine diamond set into a blue stone on the ring face, which has "White Sox" text applied to its surface in gilt lettering. Raised text at perimeter reads, "1959 American League Champions." Shanks are blank. Interior band is stamped "Balfour 14K" and engraved "J. N. Fox." Size nine and a half (9.5). Weight is thirty grams. Moderate wear. Letter of provenance from widow of Nellie Fox.
