Almost certainly written to Hall of Fame teammate Red Ruffing!

1930's Lou Gehrig Handwritten & Signed Letter, PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10. This July will mark the eightieth anniversary of Lou Gehrig's heartbreaking farewell to the game to which he had exhibited unbroken fidelity for fourteen seasons yet his star shows no signs of fading within the collecting community. Quite the contrary, in fact, as the Iron Horse has led a stampeding bull market for rare, quality autographs for the past few decades.

We're thrilled to provide an utterly unimprovable example thereof, a letter executed in Gehrig's careful script earning every bit of its PSA/DNA Gem Mint 10 assessment. The special holiday-themed personal letterhead (10x7") directs Christmas and New Year's greetings to a man named "Red," almost certainly Charles "Red" Ruffing, who spent the entirety of the 1930's with Gehrig and the Yankees.

The full text:

"Dear Red,

It is with a feeling of gratefulness and appreciation of your friendship and many kindnesses that Eleanor and I wish you a Happy Christmas and a prosperous New Year,

Lou Gehrig."

The page exhibits original mailing folds and some very minimal soiling beneath the writing, certainly nothing that detracts in any substantive way. A truly spectacular representation. Full Grading LOA from PSA/DNA, Gem Mint 10.
