1916 Gimbels SGC Graded Type Set (3) Plus Extra. The 200-card series originating with Felix Mendelsohn served as the basis for numerous advertisers becoming a type collectors dream. This auction features over twenty advertisers/lettering variants and is certainly one of if not the the most complete run ever presented in one auction. Offered is a 4-card gallery that includes one of each of the three known Gimbels back variations. Includes: #'s 5 Leon Ames/Smaller, Heavy font (SGC Authentic, hand cut), 7 Jimmy Austin/Large, Fine Serif font (SGC Authentic, hand cut), 14 Bob Bescher/Large, Fine Serif Font (SGC 60 EX 5) and 192 Owen Wilson/Heavy Italic Font (SGC 10 Poor 1).
