Description
1888 N28 Allen & Ginter Joseph Mulvey NM-MT 8 - None Higher. Joe Mulvey, unlike W.C. Fields, must have loved Philadelphia, because he played for teams in three different leagues there. Mulvey started his 12-season big league journey with his hometown Providence Grays. After a game, he was shot by a crazed fan aiming for another player, but Mulvey recovered. Then the third baseman played for the Philadelphia Quakers (forerunners of the Phillies) for seven years, went to the new Players' League with the Athletics for a year, and after the Players' League folded, remained with the Athletics when they joined the American Association in 1891. Then it was back to the Quakers for a year. He finished his career with the Washington Senators and the Brooklyn Grooms. Offered is his 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter "World Champions" card from the company's most famous issue, a valuable all-time classic that features 50 athletes with a brightly colored, timeless lithography. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of eight graded NM-MT with none higher.View Certification and Population Details from PSA
