1997-98 Metal Universe "Precious Metal Gems" Scottie Pippen (Emerald) #83 BGS NM+ 7.5 - #'d 5/100. Scottie Pippen was basketball's greatest wingman. The other half of the most dynamic duo in NBA history. He was Robin to Michael Jordan's Batman. Together the pair won six titles in eight seasons. The best wing defender of his era, Scottie always played the other team's top scorer. There is no wing in today's NBA who can lock up the smaller, quicker guards one-on-one above the foul line extended the way Pippen did. He could also defend well against bigs (see 1991 NBA Finals versus Magic). Pippen was also particularly unusual in that he was a great push-up defender who also ranked high in steals, a combination rarely found in one player. And he was the key defender in Chicago's vaunted trap sets.Offered is his 1997-98 Metal Universe "Precious Metal Gems" card, a rare "Emerald" variant. Overall, the cards are a limited edition capped at the 100 mark. Only the first ten are the Emerald version meaning although the serial number reads "100" there really are just ten for collectors to pursue. Graded BGS NM+ 7.5 with subgrades: Centering 9, Corners 8, Edges 7.5, Surface 7.5. Limited edition - #5/100 but remember, only ten Emerald versions actually exist.
