1936 R314 Goudey Joe DiMaggio/Joe McCarthy PSA EX-MT 6 - Pop Two, None Higher! In the mid-1930's size did matter. The small cards of the 1933-36 era were great sellers but in the cut throat candy and gum market innovation is key. Goudey Gum produced four different types of 3-1/4 x 5-1/2" paper premiums, here we offer an example of a 1936 "Type 1" premium, identified by the combination of thin, white glossy paper, borders with "LITHO In U.S.A." caption. Offered is the card featuring Yankees manager Joe McCarthy talking to a then rookie named Joe DiMaggio. Another example that will leave you scratching your head as to why this did not make it into a NM holder, which would put this at the top of the PSA population report.
