Description

1968 Topps 3-D Curt Flood PSA NM-MT 8. It is a shame this set never made it past the test stage. In 1968, a company called "Xograph" produced the first cards we call "3D." It seems the effect didn't seem to go over too well in 1968 or was too condition sensitive, but by 1970, a 3D card was found in boxes of Kellogg's cereal. There are rumors of cards being sold in stores in Brooklyn (the home of Topps) in '68 but the known supply sneaking out the back doors of Topps and/or Xograph employees seems to be very plausible as well. This auction features a complete set of the twelve cards made in 1968. Our offered features Curt Flood who made history when he refused to accept a trade which led to a lawsuit that was taken to the U.S. Supreme Court. He lost but it inspired other players to fight baseball's reserve clause and led to free agency. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. There are a dozen examples graded NM-MT with nine higher from a total pop of forty-eight on the PSA census.
