1917 E135 Collins/McCarthy Honus Wagner #180 SGC 70 EX+ 5.5 - Pop Two, None Higher. While the issue may not be familiar to the casual collector, offered is one of the more challenging (and final) card appearances by the great Honus Wagner during his career. The scarcity of the E135 Collins McCarthy issue from 1917 is without debate as the 200-card production was produced by a San Francisco-based firm noted for PCL exclusive editions and limited regional distribution. Card #180 features the aging, although really just 43 at the time, baseball legend in his final year as a player. Graded SGC 70 EX+ 5.5. One of just two in EX+ with none rated higher. A clean and problem-free card with some modest corner wear. Nice crisp and finely detailed portrait. No higher example is noted on either the SGC or PSA census reports.Auction Info
