Description

1882 Recreation Park League Alliance Championship Series Scorecard - Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Metropolitans. Beautifully illustrated and scarce scorecard was issued as part of a twenty-game tournament, between Al Reach's Philadelphia Phillies and Jim Mutrie's New York Metropolitans, which was contested over several months. The Mets eventually prevailed fourteen games to six. The exemplar offered here is for Game 12 of that series, played on June 26, 1882 and won by the Mets 3-2 in ten innings (see the 1883 Spalding Guide for more information). The following season, the Phillies and the Mets would become Major League franchises, joining the National League and American Association respectively. One of the earliest known relics for both franchises dating from an obscure but important series. Superb condition with killer graphics.
