Circa 1933 Rabbit Maranville Print. Walter Maranville, nicknamed "Rabbit," was a standout shortstop known for his speed, defensive brilliance, and fiery personality during a career that spanned from 1912 to 1935. Standing just 5'5", he made up for his small stature with exceptional range and energy, becoming one of the most respected fielders of his era. Playing primarily for the Boston Braves, Maranville helped lead them to a stunning World Series victory in 1914 and was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1954, remembered as one of the greatest defensive infielders in early baseball history.
