1942 "The Pride of the Yankees" Original Release Movie Poster. Considerably more scarce than those issued for the re-release that came in the wake of Babe Ruth's death, this 14x36" insert remains in gorgeous condition, professional paper-backed to bring the appearance back to the state that saw it presented in a wartime cinema. Considered one of the finest sports movies of all time, the Gary Cooper film tells the tale of the great Lou Gehrig, who only a year before had succumbed to the rare disease that ended his baseball career in 1939. Very few of these posters have survived to the present day, and this certainly ranks among the best known specimens.Auction Info
