Description
1927 Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig Signed Baseball. Just days after bringing the greatest New York Yankees season in history to a close with a decisive four-game World Series sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates, the team's slugging superstars set out for a tour of the country as leaders of the barnstorming Bustin' Babes and Larrupin' Lous. It was on one of these tour stops that a young fan approached the Hall of Fame duo and secured the signatures we present here, each appearing on opposing panels of this ancient blue and red stitched sphere. The Babe's offering rates a very conservative 6/10 in boldness, with the Iron Horse a point better at 7/10. The original owner's notation on the sweet spot reads "Oct 1927." The ball's stamping is no longer legible. Our consignor was told by the relative who first owned the ball that it was used in the game, and the wear on the ball would seem to back this claim. A small hole well clear of the autographs is the result of a prior mounting. A solid example from this storied duo, providing the ultimate in Murderers Row vintage. LOA from PSA/DNA. LOA from James Spence Authentication.More information about Lou Gehrig Sports Player.
