Description

1900's-10's Battling Nelson Fight Tickets Lot Of 3. Battling Nelson, The Durable Dane, began his professional boxing career in 1896. In his twenty-one year career, Nelson won the World Lightweight Title and achieved victories over ring greats Joe Gans, Dick Hyland, Terry McGovern, Jimmy Britt and Young Corbett. Presented here are three full, unused tickets featuring Battling Nelson. Two of the tickets are from his noted fight with Jimmy Britt on September 9, 1905 in Colma, California. Nelson stopped Britt in the eighteenth round to win the Lightweight Title. These tickets are in overall excellent condition, but do exhibit back damage from being stuck in an album. The third ticket is from Nelson's fight with Owen Moran on November 26, 1910 in San Francisco. Moran stopped Nelson in the eleventh round in a non-title affair. This ticket is in excellent condition with slight back damage. A scarce group from an important early twentieth century fighter. LOA from Craig Hamilton / JO Sports.
