Description

Early 1960's Palm Springs Golf Classic Money Clip Presented to Ellsworth Vines. The early days of Palm Springs tournament golf were highlighted by a five-day pro-am PGA Tour event first known as the Palm Springs Desert Classic in 1960. For the next four years, it was called the Palm Springs Golf Classic and it was during one of those four years that Ellsworth Vines was issued this beautiful money clip as his contestant badge.

This is a very ornate and interesting piece with the top of the clip showing a putter and the names of the three courses used for play---Eldorado, Bermuda Dunes, and Indian Wells---the iconic Palm Springs names of the time. The winner received the Eisenhower Trophy, also scripted on the clip with five stars for former General Eisenhower. The rear of the clip is stamped "Sterling." Measures 2.5x1." Letter of provenance from Ellsworth Vines III.
