Description

1951 Masters Tournament Humidor Presented to Bobby Jones. Important relic was acquired by our consignor from Jones' personal secretary along with the copy of "Golf is My Game" inscribed to her by this legend of the links. Of course it was Jones who founded the Augusta National where America's most celebrated golf tournament is contested every April, so this cross-section of Jones and Masters heritage makes this humidor a particularly special article of links history. The simple construction belies its considerable appeal, a rather spartan design but for the attactive emblem set into the lid announcing, "Masters Tournament, Robert T. Jones, Jr., 1951."

The box shows an expected degree of handling wear but nothing that could accurately be characterized as damage. Arguably the most important Jones item to travel from Augusta to the Heritage auction block since his 1937 Green Jacket commanded $310,700 in August 2011. Dimensions 5x6x3". Letter of provenance from Jean Marshall family.
