Description

1974 World Golf Hall of Fame Blazer Worn by Sam Snead at Induction Ceremonies. If there is any garment in golf more prestigious than the Green Jacket of the Masters Champion, this is it. This finely tailored navy blue blazer was issued to Snead upon his induction to the World Golf Hall of Fame in 1974 as part of the institution's inaugural class, joining member's of the sport's pantheon both living and dead including Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Harry Vardon. President Gerald Ford was on hand at the Pinehurst, North Carolina ceremonies to honor the thirteen founding members.

The museum's crest is affixed over the heart, and interior breast pocket is labeled, "Custom Tailored for Hall of Fame Member Sam Snead." We find a "42 regular" size tag inside that pocket. The jacket is in fine condition and accompanied by a silk tie likewise issued for the inaugural, bearing the seal of the World Golf Hall of Fame in its design. A marvelous ensemble belonging only to the most elite brotherhood in the sport. Included is a modern print of a photograph of Snead at the induction ceremonies. Letter of provenance from Jack Snead.
