Description

1973-74 Conn Smythe Trophy Presented to Bernard Parent. It's one of the most coveted awards in the sport, an honor born in 1965 to recognize the Most Valuable Player of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The trophy was named in honor of the former owner, general manager and coach of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and anchors its aesthetics in a miniature Maple Leaf Gardens constructed in the shadow of a botanically correct maple leaf.

Hall of Fame goaltender Parent became the second man after Bobby Orr to claim this prize twice, and the first to do so in consecutive seasons. This represents the first of those awards, earned primarily for a heroic Finals performance for the Philadelphia Flyers that saw Parent allow only nine Boston Bruins goals in six games, capped by a shutout in the clincher.

Two small engraved plaques adorn the wooden base of the trophy, reading, "Conn Smythe Trophy Presented to the National Hockey League by Maple Leaf Garden's Ltd. to be Awarded Annually to the Outstanding Player of the Playoffs 1965," and "Bernard Parent, Winner, 1973-74."

The trophy presents without any condition concerns beyond the most inconsequential signs of storage and handling wear. LOA from Bernie Parent.
