Description

2002 Edgar Renteria Gold Glove Award. It's the most demanding and competitive position on the field, so winning a Gold Glove at shortstop is no small accomplishment. The agile Colombian claimed the prize in back to back seasons for the St. Louis Cardinals and this is the first of the pair, one accompanied by a Silver Slugger and a top twenty finish in the National League MVP voting. This trophy is no replica, but the actual award that once stood in Renteria's personal trophy case. We find that most modern Gold Gloves making it to the hobby circuit are factory-made duplicates, so it's important to note the important distinction here.

A fine portrait of Renteria appears on the central base supporting the eponymous Gold Glove, framed by a pair of golden baseballs. The plaque on the base is engraved "2002 Rawlings Gold Glove Award, Presented to Edgar Renteria, Honoring His Selection As The Finest in the Field!" The trophy remains in splendid, undamaged condition, matching its unbeatable aesthetics and historical relevance.
