Description

1955-56 Selkirk Fishermen Game Worn Jersey. Famed amateur hockey team over the past 100 years, the Selkirk Fishermen wore this style sweater during the mid-1950's, the same season they won the Junior B Manitoba Championship. Popular Fishermen teams were even featured on the popular 1924 Crescent Ice Cream trading cards, which we offer in this auction, and this jersey is one of the first examples ever offered in the hobby. Presenting the team's unique fish logo on the front and sewn-on felt "9" on the back, its collar tag has since been removed, but its original string tie remains in the neck. Despite a considerable amount of tears at the shoulders and throughout the body, this shirt displays well and would be a welcomed addition to most collections that focus on the historic and obscure. LOA from Joe Tomon.
