1991 Michael Jordan Game Worn & Signed "Air Jordan V" Sneakers with Provenance.Update: Please see article where Purdue is quoted about the game-worn sneakers he received from Jordan for his camp.
Inspired by a World War II Mustang fighter jet, the Air Jordan V's signature elements included flaming mids, lace locks, reflective tongues, and mesh side panels. Michael rocked the "Fire Red" OG player exclusive 5's offered here during the 1990-91 campaign when he led the NBA in scoring, won his second league MVP, and captured his first NBA title.
Displaying white leather uppers, black and red mids, and "23" in red embroidery on the sides, the presented pair exhibits evidence of game use, with scuffs and creasing evident on the white leather uppers, and contain size "13" tags inside. Furthermore, each sneaker is signed large and bold on the ankle collar in 8/10 black sharpie.
As is quite typical of many Air Jordan V's of this era, the polyurethane composite which comprised the midsoles degraded substantially over time, thanks to dydrolysis and oxidation, and have been lovingly restored by one of the world's leading sneaker restoration experts.
The sneakers come with a signed affidavit from a former camper at Will Purdue's Basketball Camp who was awarded them for being the camp's MVP in the summer of 1992 .
